Bond performing a very James Bond sounding song, Explosive. I would have loved to be in the room when this act was first assembled, hair flicks for all! I imagine the sentiment would have felt similar to that of creating Il Divo, I find it curious to create pop groups for the middle-aged, you can almost imagine the record companies pre-selling the albums to elevator manufacturers, inflight radio providers and Chinese restaurants. I must be getting old because I enjoyed the above in some way, maybe the raw commercialism drew me in, or the slow-motion ‘wind in the hair’ pan flute breakdown… that or the legs. Cha-ching!

Baltimore’s excellent Future Islands will be re-releasing their In Evening Air through Thrill Jockey on May 4th. “Tin Man,” the next single off the album, now has a beautiful music video shot in home town, Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. All of the shots of beach houses, greasy foods and illegal in-door fireworks almost make you forget that “Tin Man” is a sullen and lachrymose song. It does, however, remind me of a another song. From the latest Vitalic album, Flashmob, the music video for See The Sea (Red) shows how the cover for the album was made. This video clip is an oniric and contemplative journey of a man recreating the 19th century experience of Etienne-Jules Marey on fluid dynamics.

Smoke lines represent the notion of stability, the triangle goes for the disturbance and incidentally for the V of Vitalic. The concept of a flashmob is illustrated here as a result of an intruder perturbing a stable environment.
