Futuristic Fascinations of Shusei Nagaoka

I’m guilty of judging books by their cover, when I say that I mean judging records by their sleeves. I’ve discovered some dazzling gems by picking up some vinyl purely on the merit of their album cover art. Take for instance Rondo Veneziano, the italian orchestral rock group of the 70s. Every one of their records boasts some of the most stylized sci-fi meets old world art. From the same era came many cosmic and space-aged designs for artists from all genres. The man behind the air brush behind the art was Shusei Nagaoka. Godfather of airbrush artistry, he produced cover art for likes for E.L.O. , Deep Purple and Earth, Wind & Fire.
